“And President Donald Trump promised to stand for the unalienable right to life,” Pence told the crowd, prompting a round of applause.

Pence specifically touted a bill that he voted for and that the president signed that blocked U.S. funding for international organizations that provided or advocated for abortions.

“And from the first day of this administration he reinstated the Mexico City policy, and I was honored to cast the tie-breaking vote in the Senate to send a bill to the president’s desk to allow states to defund Planned Parenthood.”

The International Planned Parenthood Foundation chose to forgo funding from the United States rather than quit providing abortions, even though it could force them to scale back operations.
